...De compras, baby!...

En el post de hoy quiero hablaros de una nueva tienda que han abierto en Oxford Street. Se llama Forever21 y ha pasado a ser mi tienda favorita.

Es una firma americana que ahora ha llegado a Londres y también hay una en Barcelona.

Pues bien, yo diría que es una mezcla entre Topshop, en cuanto al estilo, y H&M, por los precios. Probablemente le haga mucha competencia a Primark, aunque realmente es un estilo diferente.

La tienda consta de 3 fantásticas plantas, la planta a pie de calle llena de ropa, la planta baja dedicada al denim y básicos, etc y la primera planta dedicada a complementos, zapatos, bolsos, algo de accesorios de maquillaje y un poco más de ropa.

A pesar de ser sábado, tengo que decir que la tienda estaba muy recogida, bastantes tallas de todo, muy buena presentación y decoración moderna y con gusto. La única pega es que la música estaba demasiado alta.

Con todo este resumen, paso a deciros sin despeinarme que estoy completamente encantada de poder disfrutar por fin de una tienda física a la que ir en lugar de la web!

Today´s post will be about a new shop in Oxford Street, it´s called Forever21 and it has become my new favourite shop.

It´s an American shop chain and it has arrived to London, there is also one in Barcelona.

Well, I would say it´s a mix between Topshop, because of the style, and H&M, because of prices. It will probably be the competence of Primark, but they are different styles though.

The shop itself has 3 fantastic floors; the ground floor with all clothes, the lowest floor with denim stuff, basics, etc and the first floor where you can find accesories, shoes, bags, make up accesories and a bit more clothes.

In spite of the fact that it was Saturday, the shop was really tidy, plenty sizes of everything, the way it was presented was very good and finally modern and tasteful decoration. The only bat thing about the shop was it had pretty loud music.

With all this review, I can tell you I am completely delighted with having a physic shop I can enjoy instead of the website!

...Oidos a lo British...

Mi post de hoy va dedicado a los coches de policia y ambulancia, mas concretamente cuando tienen la sirena en modo ON.

Creo que de las pocas cosas que tiene Londres que sean desagradables, sin duda esta se llevan la palma.

No puedo describir lo fuerte que suenan o lo mucho que tarda en desaparecer dicho sonido de mis oidos, pero al menos que quede constancia.

No hay ni un solo dia que de vuelta del trabajo me encuentre con alguno de estos coches, o incluso ambos.......como me dice mi padre, "Parece que salis los dos a la misma hora".

Asi, que punto negativo, contaminacion acustica a tope!!

Today, my post is about police and ambulance´s cars, concretely when they have the siren ON.

I think there are many few things unpleasants in London, but this one really wins the prize.

I can´t describe how noisy they are or how long this sound lasts in my ears, but al least it´s worth mentioning.

There is no day when coming back from work I don´t run into one of them, or even both!......as my father says..."It looks like you have the same shift".

So, negative point, huge noise pollution.

Hoy quedan 365 dias para que se de comienzo a los Juegos Olimpicos de Londres 2012.

Es por ello quiero que sepais que aqui no se habla de otra cosa, hay muchos programas dedicados a hablar de los recintos, las inversiones realizadas, las expectativas de ingresos, entradas.....

Asi que aun nos queda tela que cortar......

Hoy quiero compartir con vosotros algo muy curioso.

Resulta que, una vez finalizado el curso escolar, son muchos los estudiantes que envian tarjetas de agradecimiento a sus profesores. (Las encuentras en todos lugares, desde supermercados hasta tiendas de regalo).

El otro dia, mientras almorzaba en un restaurante con cristaleras, pude observar como un grupo de alumnos habia quedado para almorzar con dos de sus maestros. A ella le regalaron un ramo de flores y a el una tarjeta.

Me llama la atencion el respeto que, padres y maestros, inculcan a los estudiantes hacia sus educadores desde pequeños.

Today, I want to share something really curious with you .

Once the school is finished, most of the students want to thank their teachers by sending cards. (You can find them everywhere, from supermarkets to gift shops).

The other day, while I was eating in a restaurant with big windows, I could see how a group of students were meeting two of their teachers to have lunch. She was given a bunch of flowers. He was given a card.

It really makes me feel surprised the fact that parents and teachers inculcate students, since very early, respect toward their educators.

...De paseo...

Hay dias en los que, cuando salgo de trabajar y el tiempo lo permite, me gusta dar un paseo hasta la City.

Es una manera de explorar la ciudad sin necesitar un mapa y encuentras cosas que no son conocidas.

There are days in which I like to have a walk to the City when I finish working and the weather is nice.

...Rayos de luz...

Hay días en los que sale el sol, hace buena temperatura y la gente se echa a la calle.

Lo bueno de esto es que acabas apreciando realmente algo que dabas por sentado en tu país.

Comer en una terraza se convierte en un domingo bien lindo.

There are days when the sun comes out, there is mild temperature and everyone goes out.

The best thing about this is that you end up appreciating something you took for granted in your country.

Eat outside in a terrace turns out to a really nice Sunday.

...Los detalles...

Una de las primeras cosas que llamó mi atención la primera vez que vine a Londres es que todo es diferente.

Se conduce por la izquierda y en las rotondas se entra al contrario. La mayoría de las casas y lugares están enmoquetadas. A las patatas fritas les echan vinagre. En verano a las 4 de la mañana está amaneciendo. Los edificios estan cuidados y son bonitos. Hay una inmesa variedad de cervezas. Por muy lleno que estén los transportes públicos sólo se escucha silencio. Los envases de la leche son jarras de plástico. No existen las persianas. Las distancias se sienten diferentes. Hay gente que vive en barcos en el río. Los centros comerciales son inmensos. Hay gaviotas. Los escaparates y tiendas son muy llamativos. En los supermercados, de cada cosa hay mucha variedad. En los parques hay ardillas. Los mercadillos son interesantes. Hay verde por todos lados.......

Pequeños detalles que hicieron que entre Londres y yo hubiera una relación especial.

One of the first things that caught my attention when I first came to London was that everything was different.

They drive on the left hand side and in the roundabouts they do the opposite. Most of the houses and places use carpet floors. They put vinegar in chips. The sun rises at 4am in summer. All buildings are impeccable and they are very nice. There is a huge range of beers. No matter how crowded public transport is, you only feel silence. Milk comes in plastic jars. There isn´t any blind. Distances are felt different. There are people who lives in boats in the river. Shopping centers are huge. There are seagulls. Shop windows and shop are very bright. You can find a big variety of things in supermarkets. There are squirrels in parks. Street markets are interesting. There is green everywhere.......

Little details that made a special relationship between me and London.

.....Decido abrir este blog para contaros todas las experiencias de esta aventura que inicié hace más de seis meses.....

Para todos los que ya sabéis (y aquellos que intuís) me mudé a Londres un 10 de Enero de 2011. Por qué?.......Y por qué no??

Con este blog quiero enseñar las cosas que veo y siento, contar curiosidades y mostrar mi vision de las cosas en este pais.

A random day....I decide to create this blog to tell you every experience of this adventure I started more than six months ago.....

To all of you who already know (and the ones who sensed it) I moved to London last January 10th 2011. Why?........Why not??

This blog´s goal is to share everything I see and feel, to tell about curiosities and to show my own vision about things in this country.
